A sporadic ruderal weed coming from small ancient cultivated fields which were abandoned in all Europe and Mediterranean from the half of the XXth century due to the industrial production of antibiotics. The plant was largely used for the treatment of wounds due to its bacteriocide effects. The original, natural range of this species remains yet unknown.
